Why Family Therapy?: Kerri-Ann Williams, MD, host of the Black Mental Health Matters podcast, is an Intensive Program graduate, a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who is the Chief Medical Officer at JRI. She has a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School as a part-time Lecturer in Psychiatry. Kerri-Ann interviewed Liz Brenner, LICSW, and Marie Pierre-Victor, LICSW, about what family therapy is and why it matters. Marie, also an Intensive Program graduate, works with individuals, couples and families at Codman Square Health Center and in private practice.

These seven short videos show a role play demonstration of a first family session. After the referral phone call is shown, you will see the six phases of the family session: joining, problem definition, systemic assessment/information gathering, redefinition of the problem in systems terms, feedback and contracting.
